Why Sleep is Important
Sleep and dreams are the next frontier. Recent scientific
quests reveal some interesting and disturbing facts: we need at least 8 hours of sleep per night.
If we get less sleep we suffer from sleep-deprivation a condition in which our responses to life physically and mentally are slower, more clumsy and less clear than with adequate sleep.
Most people in North America get between 5-6 hours of sleep per night!
The small difference in physical reflexes between when you are sleep deprived and when you are rested may seem unimportant but consider: while braking a moving vehicle that difference may save your life and the lives of those around you.
Take a few moments to consider the physical environment in which you sleep: is the room dark enough, quiet enough? Do you prepare for at least a few minutes of winding down before sleep? Do you allow enough time in your schedule for adequate, refreshing sleep?
Responding positively to these elemental questions will definitely improve the quality of your life.
