It is common knowledge now that we need to examine and adjust our daily diets to achieve and maintain maximum health.
Sleep, that nightly trance of intoxicating ease and helpful hallucinations (dreams) also requires our conscious attention. Sleep and dreams bring with them a payload of intense satisfaction, much increased physical and emotional health, and improved relaxation in the day time hours.
Yet most people spend no time thinking about how to prepare for and approach this most important health and wealth producing elixir. People simply jump from their daytime mind states to their beds, then wonder where the sleep went!
Here is an important and easy exercise to send you off to sleep like a baby. As you pull back the sheets or covers, begin the thoughts, like a mantra, "I am happy to be going to sleep. I feel good getting ready to release my day time life. I look forward to a night of easy sleep and restful regenerating dreams."
Once in bed, continue the thoughts: this is my safe bed. I am comfortable and at ease here. I am safe and happy in my bed. I let go completely of the world and its daily concerns. I am fully at ease and completely safe. I am protected and held in the love of the higher energies.
If you find it too difficult to conceive of higher energies, or God and Goddess energy around you, simply allow that you are letting go and feeling completely safe and at ease with yourself within your bedroom.
Repeat these thoughts, focussing all your attention between these loving thoughts and the real sense of ease and relaxation that starts to warm through your body.
With a little patient practice, you will find sleep comes as naturally to you as to the baby you once were.
