Dreams and Karma

Karma does not arise from dream experiences. This is easily seen. If someone kills you in a dream, you still wake to your daily life!

In dream yoga, the same is said of the death we experience physically: it is a dream from which we will waken to our original or more real although not permanent selves.

Dreams are a powerful and effective experience for balancing your entire system, and for retrieving much information about how your individual being works best.

Dreams however go further.
As Carl Jung demonstrated, we have also the ability to experience the Collective.

Think in terms of grooves. The Collective is the name of the grooves worn deeply by many many many people through time and space having the same thought.

For example it is true our species likes to create.
We have created and created and created and now our lives are full of what we have created.

The threads for creativity lie deep within each individual person on the planet. Indeed, some people now believe we are creating with each thought!

We know we create and that our thoughts become stronger and stronger as we create together because we see the results: grocery stores, shopping malls, cars, running water and so on up to the most wonderful pieces of art and music.

Creating is a collective "groove" or thought pattern.
That thought pattern or groove is what is referred to as karma. It is collective karma.

Many people thought about the joy of roads, and what a better life this would be if roads existed. More and more people saw the usefulness of having a road.
The thought of "road" becomes a memory which is talked about and thought about over generations.

Finally, we developed engineering! This is the result of collective grooves, or karma, building layer upon layer of thought as memory.

Some people, including Carl Jung and Joseph Chilten Pearce believe humans contain all the grooves of all the life forms on the planet!

Another way to say this is we share the karma of the planet. Every species every flower, bacteria, pseudopod, animal and tree shares its memories, its karma with the humans.

Trees breathe: therefore we have oxygen. This is shared karma.

The deep lie many humans live is that we are alone, we share nothing and no one is affected by what we think, or believe or live.

If we study deeply enough, we come to the memory of our ancestors, which teaches us that we belong to this planet and share memory or karma with the planet.

We have layer upon layer of memory: personal and collective, animal and plant. These memories inform us, or can inform us about the best way to live on this planet.

We see from the suffering around that many many people do not pay attention to these memories, or have lost or ignored the dreams which bring those memories, those collective grooves into consciousness.

One way to access those memory patterns, those karmic formations or collective information codes is through dreams.

memory clutter

Memories sound like so much clutter. Collective, personal, animal, plant. Any one of these is complex and difficult to balance but for human personal karma and memory we further confuse and complicate things with our beliefs. There have been some powerful, deep grooves for the thought that humans can do whatever they want to this earth and to each other, and yet, we expect no consequences. This belief is only strengthened by the lie you refer to - the lie that we are alone and no one is affected by our thoughts.

It's so difficult to get out of this groove. The dream realm has its work cut out for it. We need some new thoughts circulating. Some more joyful thoughts spreading.

There is mor joy in the world.
Il y a plus de joie dans le monde.
Es gibt mehr Freude in der welt.
Ci e piu gioia nel mondo.
